See some of the world’s most exquisite gowns created at the period of pure decadence. A decade described by Christian Dior as the ‘Golden Age’ of fashion where people, designers alike in Paris and London celebrated the end of war and welcomed the new era of dressmaking that has rarely been surpassed. Showcased in the exhibition are head-turning and luxurious creations by some of the greatest fashion designers like Givenchy, Norman Hartnell, Hardy Amies and Balenciaga around 1947-1957 when opulence and luxury in fashion were at its best. Shoes, dresses to hats….they are all exhibited at the V&A and you will also be able to see the skills and craftsmanship behind some of the most famous style of all time. This is certainly the best place for any brides-to-be to go and to get all the inpiration they need in creating the most luxurious and beautiful wedding dress of their dreams.
